works in progress

Following a year of maternity leave, I applied to return to the School of Art in Birmingham (where I had previously studied my MA) as a resident artist. This was an opportunity to use their facilities to develop my practice and offer informal mentoring and guidance to students in the workshops and through artist talks.

Throughout this time, I started many tests with materials and 3D sketches of ideas for new sculptural works that could be developed further. These included stretching, rolling and scraping clay off high-shine boards; making waste moulds that are then cast into, broken apart, fixed back together and recast into; and displaying different cast and found materials such as silicone, clay, metal and wood together in new arrangements.
